Extend all-out support to farmers’ struggle BHARATH BANDH ON 8TH DECEMBER, 2020

We have issued the following Press Statement from AIBEA expressing our support to
the struggle of the agitating farmers.

AIBEA supports the demands of the farmers & AIKSCC
AIBEA extends its solidarity with the struggling farmers
AIBEA urges upon the Government to resolve their demands

On the 26th of November, 2020, bank employees under the banner of AIBEA observed the

protest strike against the various anti-worker, anti-kisan policies of the Central
Government along with the millions of workers all over the country.
The demand for withdrawal of the three Farm legislations undemocratically passed by the
Parliament was one of the important issues of the strike.
Hence we whole-heartedly support the demands of the farmers and the All India kisan
Sangarsh Coordination Committee.
We also extend our total solidarity with the farmers who are on a rightful struggle.
We also urge upon the Government to come forward and resolve their demands in the
interest of the nation and farmers.
Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020 :
This Act means to bypass the state-level APMC Acts and can hence be referred to as the

APMC Bypass Act . This Act limits APMC’s jurisdiction to the APMC ‘market yard’. Outside
of the market yard, entities are free to transact in agricultural produce.
Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 : This Act provides that the stocking
limits are not prescribed except when prices go up 100%. Hence big businesses can pile
up huge stocks without any restrictions and manipulate the market as well as the price.
Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm
Services Act, 2020 : This Act enables contract farming to the detriment of marginal
farmers and there is every danger that the corporates will grab the lands of the farmers.
The fear and apprehensions of the farmers are very genuine. Cartelisation is possible.
Hence it is the duty and responsibility of the Government to address their concerns.
We urge upon the Government to take urgent measures to resolve their demands.
We call upon our unions and members all over the country to participate in supportive and
solidarity programmes in this regard.

It is unfortunate that the Government instead of resolving their genuine concerns amicably
are adopting a negative attitude. Hence the All India kisan Sangarsh Coordination
Committee has decided to continue their struggle. Their fighting spirit is a great
inspiration, motivation and lesson to all of us. Now, they have given the call for Bharath
Bandh on 8th December, 2020 and they have appealed for support from everyone.
Already various organisations, trade unions and political parties have extended their
support. 10 Central Trade Unions viz. INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA,
AICCTU, LPF, UTUC have extended their support. Today, leaders of the following 11
political parties have issued their joint call to support the struggle.

1. Sonia Gandhi, President, INC
2. M K Stalin, President, DMK
3. Sharad Pawar, President, NCP
4. Tejaswi Yadav, Leader, RJD
5. Farooq Abdullah, Chairman, PAGD
6. Akhilesh Yadav, President, SP
7. Sitaram Yechury, Gen. Secretary, CPI(M)
8. D Raja, Gen. Secretary, CPI
9. Dipankar Bhattacharya, Gen. Secretary, CPI(ML)
10.Debabarata Biswas, Gen. Secretary, AIFB
11.Manoj Bhattacharya, Gen. Secretary, RSP

2020. We call upon all our units and members to undertake the following solidarity
programms on 8th December, 2020:
a) Support campaign through Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp, etc.
b) Display of placards before Bank branches
c) Badge Wearing ( with demands or plain black ribbons)

d) Participate in the local demonstrations, rallies, etc. arranged at various
centres
