We deeply regret to inform the sad news that Com Amrit Lal, Central Committee Member of AIBEA, Chairman of Punjab Bank Employees Federation, General Secretary of the Joint Co-ord. Committee (JCC) of our Unions in Bank of Baroda, Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank and also General Secretary of All India Bank of Baroda Employees Co-ordination Committee passed away this evening in a hospital in Jalandhar where he was taking treatment for covid infection and related ailment.

Right from the beginning, he was active in trade union movement and he was totally committed to AIBEA. Ideologically, he was left oriented which enabled him to dedicate himself totally to trade union movement. In 2008, he succeeded the veteran leader Com. R D Trivedi and became the General Secretary of All India BOB Employees Co-ord. Committee. Since then he had been working hard to strengthen the Co-ord. Committee. After merger of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda, he moved swiftly and ensured smooth integration of our Unions in the three Banks and in the process established the majority in Bank of Baroda. He was feeling extremely proud when he received the official letter of recognition from the Bank in January this year. He had his dreams and plans to further strengthen the organisation. In Punjab Bank Employees Federation, he was in the forefront and was a popular leader. He was the Chairman of PBEF. He was also Central Committee Member of AIBEA. He used to read a lot and also write articles in various journals. He was also an attractive speaker. He was a man of very good manners and friendly to move with. In recent months he took travel to Mumbai, Baroda, Chennai, Madurai, Raipur, Ahmedabad, Baroda, etc on organisastional work and somewhere got infected. He was getting treated and appearing to be recovering. But suddenly, his condition deteriorated and he passed away this evening. His death is a grievous loss to AIBEA. We mourn his sad demise and convey our heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family and host of his admirers.
