18th April 2021 was a shocking and very sad day for all of us when our beloved leader Com
N.K Gaur, Former Vice President, AIBEA, Former General Secretary, Punjab Bank Employees’
Federation, Former General Secretary, All India State Bank of Patiala Employees’ Federation,
took his last breath. We have lost a great leader of bank employees’ movement, a fighter, a
mentor and a very kind human being. Born on 6th October, 1948 and he joined State Bank of
Patiala on 18th June 1969. He was elected Central Committee Member of the State Bank of
Patiala Employees' Union in 1971, as Regional Secretary in 1973 and due to his versatile
qualities of leadership, he was elected as Asstt. General Secretary in 1975.

 From then on, like
a light house radiating its light of enlightenment, he was functioning as a Trade Union leader
holding the banner of AIBEA. In the April 1980 he was elected as President of the State Bank
of Patiala Employees' Union. In 1983 he became Deputy General Secretary and on 2nd
October, 1984 he was elected as General Secretary of the All India State Bank of Patiala
Employees' Federation, a position, which with great distinction, dedication and devotion, he
continued to hold, for more than 25 years. He remained Workmen Director for 6 years on the
Board of State Bank of Patiala. During this period construction of Union Houses was an
excellent contribution to the Union under his leadership.

In 1973 Com. N.K Gaur was elected Zonal Secretary of Punjab bank Employees' Federation.
His commitment with the cause of bank employees inspired him to work for strengthening
PBEF and he served the Federation as Organizing Secretary, Assistant Secretary and in 1989
he was elected as Secretary. On 2nd October 2000 he was elected as General Secretary. Com.
N.K Gaur played a significant role in making PBEF a vibrant and militant. Construction of
Com. H.L Parvana Memorial Complex at Village Badla District. Hoshiarpur jointly with AIBEA
was an important historic event under his leadership.
Com. N.K Gaur played his great role in AIBEA from Central Committee Member in 1985 to
Joint Secretary in the year 2000. His conviction and commitment with the cause of bank
employees and his exposure at National level, unique honor was conferred upon him with his
election on as Secretary AIBEA in 25th Conference of All India Bank Employees' Association.
At Delhi Conference of AIBEA in 2008 he was elected as Vice President. In preparing the list
of Bad loan defaulters published by AIBEA he played major role. He had the honor of signing
8
th & 9th bipartite settlements for bank men. Under his leadership, struggle against the
merger of Associate Banks under the banner of SSBEA was tremendous and part of the
golden history of AIBEA. Role of Com. N.K Gaur in nourishing, strengthening and building up
the bank employees' movement under the banner of AIBEA will always be remembered as a
golden part the history of our movement. His death is a big loss to all of us.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Kanta Gaur, Two sons, daughter-in-laws, grandson and
granddaughter. We dip our banner and pay respectful homage to the departed soul and pray
almighty to give courage to the members of the family to bear this irreparable loss. His
funeral will be held today at Panchkula but due to Covid-19 norms tributes may be paid from
your place only.
